I have a buyer for my Enduro SL, but is sending something COD still a safe shipping method? We are in states on opposite sides of the country, but with all of the fake money order/ bank check scams out there I'm just not sure if I would get a real money order. I understand that he does not want to send me $3000 and not get a bike, but I also do not want to send him a bike, and get no money. I've talked to the guy on the phone and even have a few phone numbers for him, but is there a safer way to proceed than COD?

There are many escrow services out there. Paypal supports their own.
ESCROW: Money, property, a deed, or a bond put into the custody of a third party for delivery to a grantee only after the fulfillment of the conditions specified. In plain English, a buyer would pay a third party to hold onto money to make sure the seller delivers the item. Using escrow also avoids checks that don’t clear and other financial difficulties.
