I am slowly upgrading an old Benotto, I bought some Ksyrium Elite wheels and I'm going to put a 9 speed cassette on them since at the moment I only have 9 speed ergo shifters. Would it work for me to use a new 10 speed chorus or record rear derailleur on the 9 speed cassette if I set the limiter screws? Or would I just end up with problems? I am wanting to use a 10 speed derailleur because I will eventually be upgrading my ergo levers and cassette.

It will work, you'll just miss a click. Limit screws should help that tons.

Derailleurs are 'dumb' in that they only move what the shifter tells them to move.

Just a guess, but I bet that a 9sp and 10sp cassette are the same width.

Hhaha yeh as wumpus said. They are a bit longer thou, so a 9sp deraill to a 10 sp cassete wouldn't be working

Yup, they both fit on the same size freewheel. (at least Shimano is this way... I bet campy is too..)

Well sure you could do but... is that really doing justice to your Campy? Ghetto is only coolin the woods... do it right or go Shimano. :eviltongu
