Silly question, but I'm stuck.

How do I make my on shoemount flash actually flash fast, like as fast as my frames per second? so that I get multiple shots with flash, instead of just one?

I'm not sure Im saying it right, I want the flash to go off everytime I shoot a frame.

AND, is there a way to do it for off camera with PW's?

Towing the party line.
In short, you can't.

There just isn't enough power to recharge the flash fast enough. If there was, it'd melt the front of the flash.

Once and awhile, with the flash on low power fill, you can do it, but you still risk blowing the bulb or melting the plastic screen on the flash. Same goes with PWs. If you set the flash to 1/128 or 1/64 power you may get it to work, but at that point, it really isn't doing much at all.

Hmm, thanks I thought it wasnt possible, but when I was at the Nationals shooting I saw two people who's flashes were going off multiple times, looking like it was keeping up with the FPS on the camera......I was thinking ****, talk about a great setup....

But I had never seen anything about a setup that would let you accomplish this.

Thanks.

Hmmm..yeah, I think I would just assume wait for the shot and time it right then blow my flashes....

Thanks though Toshi.......I would nt mind a battery pack for all day shooting :)

Think of it this way... You have a fixed amount of power per period of time. So if you increase your iso, or your aperture or decrease shutter speed, you'll get more flash per shutter click.

But you can't keep up completely with your shutter clicks with the flash.

You don't need pocketwizards, but you definitely need some sort of transmitter (that won't be cheap :thumb: ). I use Paul Buff Cybersyncs (http://www.white-lightning.com/remotes.html), which work amazingly well and cost much less than PW's. There's also a Canon flash transmitter (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/164264-REG/Canon_2478A002_ST_E2_Transmitter.html) that I've never used, but as long as you have Canon flashes then it should work nicely as well.

The reason I ask about the PW's is that I already have 6 and they work great, so I was trying to use them if possible. I actually prefer the Vivitar 285HV, so I use them way more, they are cheap and really effective.

Thanks guys for your help.
