I just got a 2002 Cannondale Jekyll and the chain seems to be a bit long. When I am on the smallest chainring and climbing the chain wants to auto shift from the large rear cog to a smaller one and then back. Should I take a link or two out of the chain and if I do where should the jockey wheels be positioned when I have the proper chain length??

Thanks

From your description, that seems like a rear derailleur adjustment more than anything. If the bike's nearly brand new (you just bought it), the shop should give you some sort of after-sales deal. When a bike is new the cable settings can settle in as the cable housings settle into the cable stops and cable adjustments go out of whack. Most shops deal with that by giving you free tune-ups after you buy a bike.

Take it in to the shop and tell them what's wrong. They'll know for sure.

yea id adjust the stops and re tensions all the cables.

for chain sizing on my jekyl i usually size the chain up by putting the new chain on without the derailleur from big ring to big cog in the back and then using one more link and putting it through the derraileur
