The premier event at Highland Mountain, the Claymore draws spectators and athletes from all over the world. Arguably the favorite event of the year by professional riders, the Claymore marries the thrill of downhill and slopestyle with the love of music with its outdoor concert series and lifestyle Eco Village.

The Claymore Challenge is a family friendly weekend festival with something for everyone.

“It’s all about tradition”.

The winner of the Claymore is knighted and presented with the Claymore sword by owner Mark Hayes and then thrown into Highland’s famous beaver pond.

The night doesn’t end with the podium, the event caps off with an after party featuring live music in the Highland Bar.

Format:
This year’s Claymore Challenge will be open for any professional level riders; competitors who enter the contest will have to go through qualifying (July 15th). The Claymore Finals (July 17th) will be made up of 22 riders, 12 of those 22 will be chosen from the top 12 in qualifying, and 10 riders will be automatically qualified into the finals based off performance in past Claymore’ s and by discretion. Qualifying will also determine the seeding for the Finals.

Finals will be best of two run format.

NEW this year, Claymore is part of the Freeride Mountain Bike World Tour and ranked as a “Gold Level” event. To be included into the FMB World Tour ranking, an FMBA membership is obligatory. Riders that are not FMBA members can compete at the Claymore Challenge, but will not be ranked in the overall list. Riders who are interested need to become a member of FMBA and receive more information.
