I've got a great old lugged steel 700c frame that will accept wide tires and a 130 rear hub. Right now I've got it set up fixed, with sugino track cranks up front, and a formula rear wheel with long axles and some spacers. I want to make it into a kinda sorta cross bike with a 6 speed rear and keep my track cranks, just changing the chain width and chainwheel. Question is, will I drop my chain all the time with the rear changer, or am i good to go? I never ran a geared bike with single speed up front and I know some cross guys sometimes run some kind of chain plate like a DH bike. What do you reccomend? Thanks to all.
