So, I know it is now two days later since you asked for some suggestions...if you don't mind, please hang out for a bit more while we argue about more pointless bullsh1t. We should have a solid response soon.
let the homeless watch their stuff, not like theyve got anything better to doparking 30 minutes outside the NYC in a van filled with 10k worth of bike stuff sounds like an awesome idea!
good general strategy, but given the recent weather & terrain (ie shale), the course will change quite a bit!Why do people walk courses? I'd rather just ride it and save my legs!
Yeah, I walked Platty in 02 when they anew course that went STF down the mountain. Wasted time. First run, it was unrecognizable. Fun as crap, but definitely not what we walked.good general strategy, but given the recent weather & terrain (ie shale), the course will change quite a bit!
Windham has a bit more soil than Platty, but as they're 20 minutes apart the terrain is pretty damn close! Having said that, if they are using the WC course (as opposed to the Citizen's race course), there is a lot more trucked in dirt and permanent stone work.Yeah, I walked Platty in 02 when they anew course that went STF down the mountain. I agree. I usually ride a course or trail slow enough first run that I can pick out lines and hop off my bike for the bigger stuff to scope it outWhy do people walk courses? I'd rather just ride it and save my legs!
Don't bother with Launch. Never been to Seven Springs. My vote is for Blue Mountain in Pennsylvania. I think it's about 2 hrs from Mountain Creek.Yep. Back to mountain creek on Wednesday too as I have to return to a dentist there for the second part of my vacation root canal. Woohoo!
Not sure what we're doing on Tuesday. Dentist has kinda ruine the previous plan for the week.
What is there that's not a million miles from mtn creek? Launch? Seven springs? Not really sure. Will get on the Internet later and try to suss something out.
Had a big smash yesterday and have a knee that resembles a watermelon. Shame as I felt pretty lit and now I'm going to be nursing it down a bit today.
x10000. i havent been up on the shuttle this year, only the lift service but the trails are coming into shape nicely nicely! it sucked not being to ride there for the past few years but its just as awesome as it was before. if you guys go, let me know, im not too far away and was riding there yesterdayNever been to Blue mid-week, but I have a sneaking suspicion that slow shuttling at Blue is greater than chairlift at Launch.
It's seen better days... but it got me down the hill in a pretty respectable time so I'll let it off How did your run go?how is the watermelon knee?
We weren't going to due to the distance, but we are loving the races so I think we will now...For all those keeping score, that's the ONE post from PSP I've ever been able to read legibly.
How far is Bryce from you? And can't remember...are you going to Snowshoe for a weekend?
mediocre at best, im happy with it as far as my knee goes, but its hard riding with one knee and having to avoid risking any chance to drop a foot. I am not thrilled about it, but it was about as good as it was goin to get-better than giving upIt's seen better days... but it got me down the hill in a pretty respectable time so I'll let it off How did your run go?
Doesn't sound good See you at Platty/Snowshoe?mediocre at best, im happy with it as far as my knee goes, but its hard riding with one knee and having to avoid risking any chance to drop a foot. I am not thrilled about it, but it was about as good as it was goin to get-better than giving up
Brand new opening this year. Looks very promising. It is in Virginia, about 3 hours east of Snowshoe. What's at Bryce, where is it? Never heard of it.
Brad Stone, one of the best designers from Snowshoe has been cutting in all their runs and they just opened for business. Here's the site: http://www.bryceresort.com/Summer/Bryce-Mountain-Bike-Park.aspxWe weren't going to due to the distance, but we are loving the races so I think we will now...

while Blue might not have as many trails at MCBP (since they were closed for a few years and creek's naming/counting of trails is hilarious,) the terrain and the riding is much better. Creek's trails are mostly all groomed out and and are super hard packed. theres nothing fun about their trails imo. Blue is like Platty with more dirt. i also dont see any lack of flow like LaunchNo offense to any of these parks, but having just ridden Mtn Creek, you will be sadly disappointed with Launch, Bryce, or Blue Mtn.
And Blue Mtn. is almost all off-camber shale with little to now flow.
I'm not meaning to knock these parks, but for the sake of this thread, don't bother.
Yep, we will be there from Thursday, racing this weekend.Don't forget Platty is open Thursday,Friday, Saturday,Sunday this week.

Wow...that's an odd perspective. What I like about Mountain Creek is that you can do a little of everything there from the burly to the buttery. And when you can't hold onto your bars anymore, you go do more buttery runs until you get the strength back to do a burly one.while Blue might not have as many trails at MCBP (since they were closed for a few years and creek's naming/counting of trails is hilarious,) the terrain and the riding is much better.
