well, a comedy of errors:
pedal to the venue, easy 20 mins, to find the start is at 08:30 and not 09:30 as advertised, so miss the start.
so I register for the short race which starts an hour later, then realise that all my mates have started the "long" race.
go back to reg. and ask if i can go and start the race late, then try and find someone to give my jacket to keep.
I get that sorted out, but then I find my grip is loose !! its a fricken Lock-On, how does that happen ?, run around for a multi-tool, eventually get that fixed up and start the race about 15 mins late.
still had a blast though slowly picking off the back markers, it was great to be back in a XC race after so long and especially with my new bike (had only about an hour and a 1/4 on it before)
lastly, must mention how awesome Hutch mosquito's are in the right conds. never felt so in control of my bike before (this was in soft loamy conds with some hardpack)
