OK. So many questions, so little time. I am new to the downhill world, but have been mountain biking for a few years. Still learning alot about the tech side of bikes, but I'm getting there.
I appreciate help on any of these questions:
(1) For a first time DH rider, can a standard mountain bike be used for the purposes of learning? I have a Scott Contessa 50. Thoughts? I'd prefer to use my extra cash on a helmet and body armor. Trying to save $ where I can !
(2) Which body armor units are the best to buy first? Wrists, knees, shins?
(3) How do you find groups to ride with- especially ones that will take in Newbies. I'm in Colorado (Westminster- West).
(4) What would you tell a newbie about DH that you wish someone had told you when you started?
