Hill places in top 10 at Fort William World Cup

<p>The Monster Energy / Specialized / Mad Catz team raced the second round of the UCI Downhill World Cup in Fort William, Scotland, in the United Kingdom this weekend, June 4-5. World champion Sam Hill raced to a seventh place in the finals on Sunday while Troy Brosnan finished in 30th as the top junior racer.</p><p>

Hill was in 10th position at the first split, but was faster further down and clocked the sixth fastest time at split 2. He dropped one place on the final section of the course to finish seventh with a time of 4:48.433, which placed him 4.579 seconds slower than winner Greg Minnaar (Santa Cruz Syndicate).</p><p>

Junior downhill world champion Brosnan was in 31st at the first time check and then in 26th at the second time check. He stopped the clock in 30th place with a 4.55.005, 11.151 seconds behind Minnaar. Brosnan's ride earned him honors as the fastest junior rider of the day.</p><p>

Qualifying</p><p>

Downhill qualifying was run on Saturday, with Brosnan finishing an impressive eighth at 4:56.869 and Hill placing 12th with a 4:58.170. Brendan Fairclough was the team's third and final rider in 131st with a time of 5:25.132. Fairclough did not advance to the finals.</p><p>

World Cup standings</p><p>

After two rounds of the World Cup, Hill sits in seventh in the overall standings with 195 points while Brosanan is 20th with 126 points. Hill maintained his World Cup rank at Fort William, while Brosnan, who is also the top-ranked junior, moved up from 27th after round 1. Minnaar is leading the standings with 425 points.</p>
