1. Listen quietly and intently while this person explains their views. They will probably voice many points, ranging from political to religious to Humanitarian and violence only leads to more violence.

2. In the middle of their remarks, without any warning, punch them in the "blahing" nose.

3. As the person gets up off of the ground, very quickly and calmly remind the person that violence only brings about more violence. Tell them if they are really committed to a nonviolent approach to undeserved attacks, they will turn the other cheek and negotiate a solution. Tell them they must lead by example if they really believe what they are saying. Most of them will think for a moment and then agree that you are correct.

4. As soon as they do that, punch them in the "blahing" nose.

5. Repeat steps 2-4 until they fly into a rage and come swinging at you.

6. Now tell them that they are cured

7. Lesson over.

...seen almost that exact message on email FWDs before. The manner in which the message is presented may be designed to raise eyebrows, but the message itself is sound. Peace activists rarely live what they laud. If they did, they wouldn't flip cars, throw bottles, trash storefronts, battle riot police, set fires to trashcans and tires, or any of the other violent and destructive things that do when gathered into mobs. It's easy to preach peace when you are not the one suffering under tyranny.

Scofflaw, do you think I was serious or posting something I thought was humorous? I would've thought a Homestarr/Cheat fan would be able to tolerate questionable humor. Oh, btw, I did try but my wife had a miscarriage, so I'll tell her to stop hating God now.

V.B. thanks for the, uhh, compliment? ;) :D

i'm still getting to know my audience here

Be interesting to know exactly which of the protestors are doing all this. I'll think you'll find it's a small core of anarchists/radical socialists who are intent on causing disruption and mayhem for its own sake, the anti-war movement just provides a convenient medium. This has been a problem in Western countries for a number of years, witness the problems at any major world economic forum.
I think you'll find the vast majority of peace protestors are normal people who are no more prepared to trash stuff than you are. I mean just as the fact that various right wing loonies like the KKK or Aryan Nations probably support the war is no reflection on you or the pro-war camp, so the actions of a few left wing loonies should not reflect on the millions of people opposed to the war.

Very good point. Even though i am Pro-war i still like to try and understand both sides of the coin. It seems that the press is only interested in the radical veiwpoints of each side instead of the intelectuals who have valid arguments and solutions. There are a lot of "bandwagon" protesters who feel that they need to belong to one side or the other in order to feel acceptance. People who have something worth saying don't shout it from the rooftops.

Well said, you said it for me. I love these threads, "Peaceful and Enlightened???" "The protesters......" As if some thugs represent the entire anti-iraq-war side.

Well Opie...I have to tell you that, yes, my pet chicken was pretty doggone offended by your last joke there....but I tried to explain to her that you were my friend and all..and that she should lighten up. And Y'know..Ive never heard quite so much profanity from a chicken before....(she's also a lesbian, it turns out...I never knew that before this evening...you think you KNOW a pet...)
Anyhoo...to make a long story short..as I sit here and sadly devour the last drumstick...I'll have you know, I dont think you have to worry about her threats of retaliation. Its all taken care of.

Ill save you the wishbone...

Regards..Your Friend,

Dave

good one Dangit

Hey, speaking of that... What'd Hannibal Lechter say after eating the Frenchman? "Hmm, tastes like chicken."

(yes, yes, I plan to desensitize y'all with my pathetic attempts at political humor)
