You know the terrible feeling you get in nightmares? That realization? The sudden awareness of the fact that not only is something horribly wrong, but something has always been horribly wrong, and you have simply failed to notice it until that moment? That is how Given to the Rising makes me feel. I do not like it. I want it to stop. And yet, I can’t stop listening. Over and over again, I must have listened to this record (which clocks in at just over an hour) five times already today.
