reality check? because i left it INSIDE my car, for all of 3 mins, the top was down, so that makes my car fair game for anyone whomight want whats in it? f-that! people are assholes. i wouldnt take a wallet full of cash out of a roadster... let alone a mirka sandpaper box that weighs next to nothing.

it is fvcked up but the reality is, people steal stuff. any stuff. so if you want to lesson the chance of not having stuff stolen, lock it up.

to A-hole thieves, ANYTHING is fair game. locked or not.....

stealing something out of an open convertible is a different matter than stealing something out of a closed, hardtop car. it's the difference between reaching over a doorsill and breaking a window, and most punks just walking down the street wouldn't do the second just for an unmarked box lying there.

that it was stolen at all still sucks, and you have my sympathy fwiw, but dump has a point.

yes, i agree that its far easier to hang your body inside a convert and jack something, but its the fact that i cant leave my car parked at the bank while i make a withdraw for 3 mins, without having to worry about arbitrary looking stuff in my car getting taken. (btw, they also stole the charger for my ericsson cell phone, which inst compatible with stateside models  . it just pisses me of that people take **** for that sake of taking ****.

Fuggheads is what I say. Thieves suck.

How can anyone say "he left it in a convertable so he deserved it". Just because you have a gun do you go kill someone???

that sucks about the shock. kind of reminds me of this weekend when my buddy was switching out his tacoed wheel at a race this weekend, and he had to take apart his brake to get his wheel off, and someone took his hayes caliper adapter from 2 feet behind him when he was turned around, yet I left my bike unlocked and laying around without watching it and it never moved, go figure :( , yes people do suck

I know this is a long shot - but mention it to the bank, maybe they have a surveillance camera on the lot? Maybe too late this time, but if you could nail them eventually...

I am from california. I KNOW to lock my car even if I am away for 10 seconds. Convertable? Absolutely not worth it to leave it down, if I had a convertable, I would only have it "down" when I was in the car. It's tempting to leave it for a minute or too, just like it is tempting to leave doors unlocked for a few seconds, but in reality that is all a good theif needs and he doesn't have to go through the trouble of getting the door open, so half his job is already done. It's too bad that we have to take these kinds of measures these days, but it is the simple fact. Don't leave anything valuable out in the open (like sitting out in a convertable).

It sucks that you got your shock stolen and the guy who took it is a lowlife scumbag. But leaving it in a convertiable with the top down unattended is testing your fate. I am amazed by the fact that alot of my friends from school leave their house unlocked when they are asleep or away, leave their windows open in their cars when they are away, and do a bunch of other inattentive things. I guess its part of where i live and grew up, but it still amazes me.

People are opportunists and are easily tempted. Putting something out in the open with no barriers infront of it makes the pool of people who are willing to take your posessions much bigger. Things like windows and roofs are enough of a deterent for most people. You played a hand with crappy odds and got burned.

Hey,

Keep that loaner shcok as long as you need. I sold my bighit it was off of, and would like to send the shock to my friend who bought it eventually, but since your at a loss right now keep it till you've sorted something out.

Maybe see ya at chelan?

I actially got *a bit* lucky, and my friend has a newer toasted rc hes going to sell me cheap, and ill get that sent out this week to see if push can do anything with it (its nearly destroyed though). either way, i can get your shock back at chelan (definitly be there), before or after the race, depending on if I get my end sorted out. The friendly mountainbiking community is great for underpaid over worked CAD idiots like me :)

Ah, all you cad peeps! don you just feel like drawing bikes and having them made? (i priced out one i was toying with, half assed 3d "sketch" if you will) and it would run close to 3000 for all the machining, the proper tubing from Easton, and to pay one of my friends to TIG it :mumble:)., I do constuction drawings in AutoCAD, rapid prototyping and development with Rhinoceros and Solid Works, And some random stuff in illustrator, CASmate and Freehand for these guys: http://www.signtechseattle.com/portfolio/portfolio_fs.html it get monotonous, but we make some really cool stuff, and the people there kick ass (most of the time) so its enjoyable enough to warrant my silly wages. And im learnin lots and building a great resume early. Where do you work Damon?

Sorry to hear that Sebring, that really blows. But sometimes you have to learn the hard way that people are untrustworthy. I know I did. You're being naive if you think you can trust the average joe on the street; it sucks but it's true.

Did you get your credit card cancelled?
