Folks,

I just wanted to make sure everyone was aware that IMBA/Subaru TCC is coming out to South Mountain Reservation on July 7-8 for a weekend of education and trail building.

We hope that we can get a great group of motivated mountain bikers to come out and show Essex County Parks how much value our user group adds to a park. with your participation, you help us open eyes and change minds at South Mountain Reservation.

The Press Release is attached, and an invite is here: http://www.jorba.org/cpg133/albums/userpics/10001/SMC_IMBA_Trail_Care_Weekend-General_Invitation.pdf

Feel free to distribute to anyone that might be able to pass the word.

Riders, for planning purposes, please RSVP here: http://go.imba.com/somo

mountain biking isn't allowed there, are we trying to change minds to let us in to the reservation?
Correct.

The presentation that IMBA will give (on Saturday morning) will focus on: sustainable trail building and how it can enrich the trail experience of all trail users (non-motorized) but at the same time limit erosion, minimize maintenance and limit user conflict (through education and trail design).

The folks at the South Mountain Conservancy are hosting the event and they asked us to partner with them at this event, as well as several other trail projects TBA this summer. We now have people that are willing to consider our riding community as assets, but we need to prove that we're willing to work with them on trail improvement projects and that we add value to the park (not erosion problems, user conflict, and various other misconceptions).

A good solid turnout along with the great IMBA presentation should change minds and open eyes.
