Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew Coming to Ithaca, NY

The International Mountain Bicycling Association’s (IMBA) Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew will be in Ithaca, NY, September 21st through the 24th to talk trails, teach people proper trailbuilding technique, and spend quality time digging in the dirt. The visit is one of 70 stops on the 2006 schedule. Everyone is invited to attend the weekend’s events.

The award-winning Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew program includes two full-time, professional teams of trail experts who travel North America year-round, leading IMBA Trailbuilding Schools, meeting with government officials and land managers, and working with IMBA-affiliated groups to improve mountain biking opportunities. IMBA’s Crews have led more than 1,000 trail projects since the program debuted in 1997. Coming to Ithaca are Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew members Kristin Butcher and Ryan Schutz. Trail work will take place in Shindagin Hollow State Forest, 10 miles East of Ithaca in the Town of Caroline.

The Crews teach “sustainable” trailbuilding, which means building trails that last a long time and require minimal maintenance. This helps reduce trail damage, protects the environment, and enhances visitor enjoyment. Now in its tenth year, the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew program is more popular than ever.

All are welcome to join the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew leaders when they come to town. Below is a schedule of events that are open to the public. All events are free. There will be raffles and giveaways as well as free food and drink for trail work volunteers!

I rode at Shindagin once and ended up lost with a flat. You should talk to robdamanii
Bummer man. Shindagin has some awesome trails, and our local riders have put in a lot of work on them this summer. We've partnered with the NYS DEC (land managers), and have approval to mark about 25 miles worth of trails here. We've got a few labeled now, should have about 20 miles labeled by the end of this Fall. Maps will follow shortly.

Hope some of you guys are coming to Ithaca to check this fun event out. The http://www.cycle-cny.com/ has more details listed about the event. If you plan on attending any of it, please register here - http://go.imba.com/ithacatcc. We've got lots of sponsors, free food, raffle give-aways, etc. It'll be a good time, for sure.:monkeydance:

Cool. I'll have to give that place another shot. We just got horribly lost when trying to follow the map. Maybe we could meet as a group sometime.
