Nice cartoon, anything real? The problem with such a system is that you would have to be able to have a controlled frequency response well over 10,000 Hz. Really tough to do when moving chunks of metal around that are essentially structural. Not difficult to do with a feed forward based control output. It would take a shit ton of computation, but it would take so much simulation and testing time the cost of implementing a proper system would be prohibitively expensive. A learning algorithym would help, but they can be quirky when faced with unique situations. I suspect electric drive will replace the ICE well before electronic valve control is a viable solution.

Christian von Koenigsegg is a little nuts, but he has money to burn. The idea of being able to run both gas and diesel in the same engine (not at the same time) makes an interesting case for this sort of design.
