Agreed. How many resources and how much $$ could be redirected/saved if we did so. Goes along with eliminating the for profit prison system...maybe educate young people well enough so that they learn to avoid hard drugs and addiction...not spend so much on Cops...teach them to focus on helping those in need and tracking down real bad guys, not unfortunate types with addiction problems.

We really need to legalize and regulate these hard drugs. Have clinics that people can come and get cheap doses safely... and try to treat them.

Fighting a black market battle is endless and impossible.
There are absolutely zero real life examples of opening up clinics and needle exchanges to help people who are addicted to hard drugs use in a monitored environment to contain the spread of infectious diseases and rehabilitate those who want it. None. Everyone knows the only effective way to solve this problem is to declare a war on it. Just look at how successful the war on drugs has been!
