Yeah.... Lincoln Parish Park (Ruston, La) is 60 miles from here...

It is one of THE BEST MTB Trails in the South... for riding and racing.

The course designer developed the Monkey Trail (Eddie B. Jones Caddo Parish Park) just south of Shreveport, La. Think of this trail as 10 miles of the hard parts of Lincoln Parish Park.... lol!

Does this mean no individual awards at each race? Also, is it broken down into NORBA classes, like Sport and Expert? Also, any single speed class? sorry for so many questions man...

Its a little under 4 hours for me to drive down, might have to come down and do one, loved the course when I raced the fall classic this year, been looking for an excuse to get back down there...

Oh one more... How many did y'all have turn out for the Dec. 29th trial?

classic was bad only comparable to RHR 24 but for me 4x worse (number of laps i did) and tack on a couple of extra timeses because of the night laps in the rain. Did i mention I’m sick of the mud?

I bet your bike was completely trashed after the 24hr race, I know how bad mine was after Ruston, cost me around $200 to get it back up and running and it still isnt right, I still need to replace the right shifter, I keep tinkering with it and just cant get it right. Just a good thing that I spend most my time riding my single speed.... I've decided that from now on unless I am racing for series points I won't race in the mud like that again... its just not worth it... In fact I'm in on the Ouachita Challenge and if it turns out to be like it was last year I will just let them have my $25... but hopefully it wont rain 4 inches this time...

I am not racing in mud like that agin either...

I had 3 broken rear spokes, serious chain suck which munched a nice chunk of aluminum out of my lower swing arm behind the chain rings and mud in my head tube.

Was fun though...

:D

Just got a reply back from Martha, in case anyone else was interested in my questions. She said that its broken down into open age groups, no classes. And the award system is going to be based on your best 4 times out of the possible 6. Sounds like its more of a fun thing to get people out and riding during the winter, I will probably still get down there and do one just to be going somewhere different and ride some killer trails....

I had to completely strip my bike down to the bare frame because it's steel. It had water and mud everywhere. After the bike dried i relubed everything and built it back up. Then i had to do the same after the 24. The bike was brand new 2 weeks before rustin after the 24 1 month 2 weeks later i had been through 3 sets of brake pads, 2 chains, 2 sets of cables, rebuild on the fork, froze rear hub bla, bla bla.

Indie, what you dont realize is this was in Louisianna, the mud basically consisted of sand and water. No one had brakes after the first 10 mile lap, NO ONE, not even the guys with disks. I have raced in thicker and nastier looking mud here in Arkansas, including red clay that sticks to everything!! but it doesnt compare to the component destroying sand/mud at Ruston... I wore half of my side walls down on my rims at that race, and I too was riding a brand new bike, it only had 6 rides on it at that point.... this stuff was the consistency of water, so it worked its way into every seal and pivot on the bikes. When I finished the race the headset on my bike was locked up, couldnt hardly turn the bars, of course this was just a great reason to put a King on it... he he... I agree that clay sucks, the stuff sticks to everything, your wheels feel like they weigh 20lbs a piece because it cakes on your tires so bad, and it jams up between the tires and the seat stays and makes it hard to pedal. But its still nothing like what we experienced at Ruston.... Guess you just had to be there to understand exactly how bad it was....

no dude i've gotten to race in a lot of places. the clay has to be the worst shiet to ride in mainly b/c it makes everything feel heavy as hell.it's also pretty hard to predict lines riding in the slick red clay. i will agree that the gritty/sandy mud that you guys have in ruston and many other places for that manor are harsh are your bike and that's bout it. having to replace housing and cables and everything suck but gives you an excuse to work on your bike. yeah the king is bombproof, i'm done COUNTLESS nasty ass races and my king has never once gotten sticky.....but back to the grit sandy stuff. it's probably the best type of mud to ride in. it's very easy to navigate through veruses thick clay or a thicker based top soil. this is one of the main reasons why when i race if it rains i want it to continue raining if it rains before the race and/or rains long enough during our race that the mud doesn't start to dry up and get thick......

nope sorry just the fall. BUt hey that's just around the corner
Hmmm... They had a spring race down there a couple of years ago I know, but it may not of been a Texas series race. I know it wasn't a AMBC event, no where near the same size. Anybody know if another series puts on a race there? if so when is it? I love that course, would love to get back down there and race it again....
