Here's what I have now:
- 2 internal 750 GB drives in a hardware RAID 1 array
- 1 external 500 GB drive
- 1 dual bay HDD dock

There are three problems I have with the curent set up.
1. There isn't enough space on the system drives.
2. There isn't enough space on the backup drive.
3. Internal drive speed is too slow.

Working with what I have above, and another $300 what should I buy from newegg, and how should I configure it to address the problems above?

Here's what I'd do:

Put the two 750gb drives in the external unit as JBOD so you have 1.5tb of backup space.

Buy a SSD for my operating system drive. Something like this:

Buy a 2tb internal drive for storage. Something like this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136494&cm_re=2tb-_-22-136-494-_-Product

That would give you 2tb of internal drive space, a 1.5tb external backup, and a super fast SSD for your operating system which is probably the single biggest upgrade for the price that you could give your computer.
