Been shopping around for a new set of MTB wheels. I found a set of Mavic Ceramic Crossrides for the same price as the Mavic Alloy Crossrides, when typically the ceramic wheels are +$80.00 more. I live in Utah where it is dry with the occasional rain storm, do you think it would be a mistake getting a ceramic wheel in dry conditions or will I experience a better ride with better braking? Have heard ceramic wheels make brakes wear more quickly, any truth and how much more wear if any if in dry conditions? Any input is appreciated...

I use the ceramics here in Boulder, similar climate. Ceramic rims make for awesome braking!! I would definately recommend them. You WILL burn through a lot more brake pads. Inspect them every couple of weeks and expect to go through several sets per season.

Ceramic's are pretty good but they absoltly hate gravel and rock's (it chip's the surface big time)
but IMO in the long run it would be better just to jump straight to hydrolic disc's for power
and longevity ect. :D
