I'm not sure what to do with this article - laugh, cry, get mad..whatever, but thought I'd share it with y'all just because it's so messed up on so many different levels.

Elmira man accused of hitting 5-year-old with frozen meat awaits hearing.

A 5-year-old girl injured earlier this week in Elmira after she was struck in the head by a frozen piece of meat remains in critical but stable condition in a medically induced coma.

Meanwhile, the 25-year-old Elmira man police say is responsible for her injuries, Kenneth C. Groves, faces charges of second-degree assault and second-degree reckless endangerment in connection with the Feb. 13 incident. He remains in Chemung County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail. Groves, of West Church Street, is scheduled to appear in Elmira City Court on Tuesday for a preliminary hearing, according to court records.

Groves was arrested Tuesday after police said he injured the child around 5:30 p.m. at the West Church Street address while arguing with her mother.

The victim's mother declined a request for an interview, but Jennifer Chapman, the woman's sister, told the Star-Gazette more about the incident. Chapman, who was not at the home at the time of the incident, said the child was injured after she was hit in her forehead by a frozen piece of meat. She said she was told Groves became upset that his dinner was not ready, opened the freezer, and began removing frozen food items by randomly throwing them. The 5-year-old was standing in a different room when she was struck, Chapman said.....
