i went down to dh race at roughriders canyon last weekend.
it was about 8 hrs and that is about max for a "local" race.
there was some guys who drove from boulder! the weather
was perfect elpaso spring. not much wind and blue sky's.
about 75deg for all you snow bound riders.
the pro/semi/expert track was fast and steep with lots of
shelf drops and rocks. the shuttle ride was hell up a steep
4x4ed out road along a ridge but it got us up there. the
winning time was 2:17 so it was ok for dhing w/o a ski area.
i reg first so i was first to go on the line. "alex, you have a
rear flat." , too true. my warm up circles has backfired on me.
so i start last and have no tube. i get my tire OFF THE RIM!,
no time to get the whole wheel off, and cut a big thorn proof
tube and shuv it in there so i don't kill my rim for the best of
two runs. i pump up my flat till 15sec to go and pin-it! it dies
half way down and i loose 10 secs at the bottom rise~rollers.
the man to beat chris does the 2:17.29. i got a 2:26.bla.
get the tire all fixed then kill-it second run with a 2:17.38.
chris gets 2:19.bla and has the best overall. $200 to him and
i get $100 3rd was Alen Decktor and 4th tonio Gradillos.
had a good time and if was worth the drive t get on the dh
bike again.
