well said.

:(

I think part of thier punishment should be for them to line up and repeatedly get c**k punched by Merckx and Fignon, then be forced to listen to Bob Roll say Tour Day France for 3 freaking weeks.

NORCAL is the hizzle
I have to believe the team had advance notice of a positive test or something else beyond what they are saying. This smacks of a last ditch attempt to save face before the dropping of a huge bombshell. In any case, it sucks.

I dunno, maybe.

But if I was team director with all that's been going on and I found out that my rider outright lied about why he missed doping tests, I'd boot him too, even if I had no other info.

Imagine if they didn't and then it was later revealed they knew he lied?

They should let me into the Tour, the only thing I'm on is Guiness and coffee. Of course the Guiness would elevate my testosterone and then I would fail a doping control and have to wait for the B sample, upon testing it would be positive and I would be shamed the rest of my life while I proclaimed my innocents and blame the positive test on (take your pic) alcohol/beef/big balls/extreme effort

I wonder in 10 years will I think 2007, that was a crazy year for the TdF, or will I wonder why road racing no longer exists?

Wish I could say the same thing....
I can only imagine. Lamzorz huh? If he's a large, you can send me his spares! I'll get a Rabobank signature bike, so I'll match all nice and good.
Luckily ours is a lot smaller than yours!

Hey, remind me on the shoe size, 44 right? I totally lost like 1/2 my emails the other day. Drop me an email.

Our stupid local paper won't cover the friggin race in a meaningful way, but this gets on the front page.

:disgust1:
Of course....positive news doesn't sell papers, Americans want stories about people's lives falling apart

Jesus man... way to spoil the most exciting tour I've seen.

*shakes head*

Why don't they just go on strike and really piss off the fans?

Yeah he tottaly got caught in a lie. Not enough for the UCI or TDF to boot him but more than enough reason for his team to cut him. I think they did the right thing. You know it is bad when the peloton starts protesting. If you watch the video the whole peloton sat there at the start. A few riders went off early, Rass was one of the first. He probably felt a 100 or so eyes burning a hole through him.

I'm sure that's part of it. ASO said "look, if this guy wins, and he's found to be doping in a week or a month, then we're f'd in the a. So either he's totally clean, or find a way to get rid of him."

And now he's gone. Hmm...

He didn't help his cause by acting like a dick.

It would have been a lot cooler if Contador just punched him in the face and then Cadel Evans pushed him off the side of the mountain.

Amen, didn't make many friends, that's for sure. Especially amongst his teammates...

Intere sting quote from the article.

guess they won't feel they won it properly
Exactly, that's not the way you want to get a TdF win. And it doesn't help the cause of "clean cycling" to have the yellow jersey ejected from the tour a couple of days before Paris.
Though it would have been worse had he won and then this happened...

Interesting question. He's in thelead, so technically, he should, yeah? Would it be classy of him to wear the white anyway? Would Tour Officials allow him to wear anything but yellow?

Tomorrow's initial coverage will be interesting since they already played the, "hey, other sports have problems too" card.

When Lance got the yellow after a crash and didn't want to wear it, officials wouldn't start until he put it on, and that was a respectable situation. So I can't see them letting him not wear it out of "respect".
