My own world inside my head
So, I hardwired the home network today, all is well, moved the router and modem out into the garage, ran My Cat5E cable to the rooms, installed the rj45 connectors, used a socket for the walls..... But my question is, is there any reason I wouldnt want to use my left over Cat5E for the phoneline in the garage?

Phone box is about ten feet from where I want to keep the Modem and router, and I have quite a bit of left over Cat5, and is there anything different I should be doing when using cat5 for phone line that I wouldnt be doing with regular phone line?

Nope, definitely use it. We wire ALL of our phones at work now with Cat5e, because it provides you with a ton more flexibility: 4 phone lines (4 twisted pairs) per cable, and unused jacks can be converted to Ethernet with little hassle.
