a buddy of mine cleaned out his closet and gave me a set of some old tufo tubular cx clinchers, theyre in good condition just old and the rubber is a little hard, no cracks though. this might be a dumb question but is it possible to sort of restore the rubber? they're neat tires and i want to try them out.

Olive oil? No idea, sorry. Usually tires have a finite lifespan even if not getting ridden, depending on conditions.

They're good tires...I use em on my SS rig. Restore them by riding in the mud/rain :)

No cracks? In a closet? Then they're aged to perfection!

(Apparently Julien Devries, who was a mechanic for both Mr. Merx and Mr. Armstrong, aged tubulars in his Belgian wine cellar for up to seven years.)

We keep our entire stock of tubies mounted (not glued) on rims and in a closet. They're waaaaay easier to mount evenly that way.
