Finally I've gotten around to snapping some quick shots of my new bikeys.

The TT bike, Fuji D6:

and the James-approved Felt F1SL:

The warning stickers gave me luck :p

Last weekend I headed out to Arizona for the Valley of the Sun stage race. Friday was a 14.4 mile TT, Saturday was an 89-mile road race, and Sunday was a crit around the capitol.

I didn't really know what to expect from the TT as I hadn't done any hard efforts on the new rig, nor had I even done a flat TT since I was a cat 4 years ago. The TT hurt, I won't lie. I got caught about 4 miles in by both my 30-second man and minute-man(eventual winner Jonathan Chodroff), which made it hard to want to keep going. I kept a steady, but hard-for-me pace and finished 32nd: 3:32 off of the winner. I didn't have a disc or an aero helmet, so that's my excuse on the performance ;)

The road race brought some more fun in the Arizona desert. The course was a 16 mile loop with a gradual climb into a headwind to the finish. The race rolled out slowly for about half a mile before the attacks started. Eventually a 12-man break went up the road. I bridged up to a chase group which was working decently for 16 miles or so, but everyone sat up when time checks came back and we were losing time to the break. We went back to the peloton and I chilled in the group for a couple of laps. With just under 2 laps to go, I attacked for fun and nobody really chased. I bridged to a BMC rider who had been off the from alone for some time, and two guys bridged to me from the group. The 4 of us worked together to put nearly 2 minutes into the field by the finish. I took 14th on the day, and slotted into 14th on GC.

Team bikes:

The crit was a figure-8 course on some pretty sh!tty roads around the capitol in downtown Phoenix. We raced for 70 minutes, and it was single-file for a good portion of it, though we weren't really on the rivet.

I tried attacking a few times, as did nearly everyone else, but the wind proved to be too much and it ended in a field sprint where I took 7th.

All in all a fun weekend. The bikes ride great. The Felt is awesome; it's snappy under foot and doesn't feel flexy at all. I haven't weighed mine, but a teammate who rides a 58cm said his is 14.5lbs with pedals and bottle cages.

Very cool! You need a disc for that TT bike....and a nerdy aero helmet with bright green sun glasses to match!

Aero helmet will be here Tuesday. The disc will have to be bought after the tooth fairy visits me a thousand times (...if only I was a shark).

Felts are definitely sweet, I really wish I had an AR4, waiting on the toothfairy for that one too.

Anyway, nice bikes and great write up.

I have been very neglectful in responding to this.
Bike looks great! I love the F1SL, just an amazing bike.
But, why not a DA or something to match it?
