Open the bottom of your mouse and take the rubber ball out. Clean the rubber ball with rubbing alcohol. The two little plastic rollers get crud built up on them. Scrape it off with your finger nail or a dull metal object. Put the ball back in and it should be fine.

When you are ready for a new one get an optical. Vastly superior :)
