I am gonna pick this up after work from CL.

For $100.

1. 1- 6 gallon glass carboys
2. 1-5 gallon glass carboy
3. 2 Stainless Steel Kettles (1with lid and 1 without lid)
4. 1 hand held bottle capper
5. 2 Jet Bottle and Carboy washers
6. 1 Hydrometer
7. 2 Racking Wands
8.1 Thermometer
9. 1- 6 gallon plastic bucket with spigot
10. 1 pouch winexpert chilson 4
11. 1 Bag wine corks (foil)
12. 2 bags cork covers (foil)
13. Handful of Rubber Stoppers

From the books I have read that is all I need. Am I missing something perhaps?

From the shopping I have done, $100 seems to be a pretty good deal.

That's a great price.

I'd also recommend:
-a funnel
-a siphoner...unless that's what a racking wand is?
-a blowoff hose

And you'll need sanitizer. There are plenty of other gizmos you can buy as you progress but this will get you started. :)

Going to pick it up today. Got busy last night. He wants to throw in a CO2 regulator for $15 but it would just sit around & collect dust.

Our IT guy here at work home brews& he hooked me up with the names of some good local shops to get fermentation locks & ingredients from.

Dirty hippy will also have to take a shower.

The damn kitchen is what has me worried. I need to hose down the whole damn place with bleach.

I've brewed outside and in dusty/dank basements with no problems, your kitchen shouldn't be any worse. Just keep things covered whenever possible.

Great find. Welcome to the club.

We should organize a RM Homebrew exchange...
We've got a pretty good club going here:

I haven't brewed a small batch since October, but have a couple of things lined up for the back porch this summer:
Berliner Weisse
Saison (w/ raw spelt)
Kolsch
Flanders Red v3.0 (v1 was dumped, v2 was sour enough, but not funky enough)
and maybe another attempt at a decoction mashed roggenbier

La & I did a partial mash Bock this weekend. It went pretty smoothly. Already have a nice cap of foam in the carboy & some bubbles. I am not sure if we took the gravity readings correctly. We checked it in the tube the hydrometer came in because it seemed like the best vessel (pint glass didnt work). Our OG was .01 less than the recipe said it supposed to be...not sure if that matters.

Also not sure how to usie the racking wands. But I think I am missing some tubing.

We can't wait to start another batch. Thinking of doing some wine soon as well.

it's not uncommon to miss your readings, or be high/low from what the recipe calls for.

Racking wand is a fancy name for a piece of plastic and tubing that allows you to take the beer from a carboy and put it into the bottling bucket. Once it's in the bottling bucket you use a bottling wand to help fill the bottles. The wand has a spring loaded piece on the bottom that, when pressed by the inside bottom of a bottle, allows beer to flow into your bottle.

yeah, i am just missing some tubes.

It is still bubbling away in primary. I have had beer dreams since starting this batch.

Wise words of brewing with L-while staring at the bubbling fermenter- "Screw having kids. We can create life by making beer."
