There are some rides that you are going to pay dearly in sweat equity to experience. Los Pinos is one of those rides. If you want to experience genuine, soul sucking, quality suffering, in the most masochistic of terms…sign here. First, you climb up San Juan trail, to Blue Jay Campground. From there, get ready for some quality suffering, up the Main (Pain) Divide. This is, without question, my least favorite climb in all of southern California. That’s putting it nicely. I despise this climb. It’s brutal, mind numbing, and I’ve witnessed grown men in tears, puking, after summiting.

Survive that, and you are at the base of Los Pinos. Now, begins the real fun. 14 hike-a-bikes. Some so steep, loose, and hellishly long...that I seriously question my sanity.

Pain management.

Just as the last of the Hike-a-bikes is done with, and I have narrowly resisted the urge to slit my wrists… the BIG payoff comes. Backcountry, ridgeline, tasty, singletrack, dessert.
