ok, so now that i've taken my own bike out, instead of a friends, i've got one complaint....sqealing u-brakes. my friend's brakes didn't have any noticable squeal-age, and i'm not sure why. being U-brakes on the chainstays, will toeing them in help? or any other ideas?

Yes, yes it will
Toeing them in will help and get some Kool Stop pads, they work on my BMX and no donkey sounds coming from my rear wheel.
my friend toook the brake pads off his butcher after being fed up with a week of squealage, and he boiled themin a pot of water! his brakes work hella well now. so i guess you could try this
