Has anyone had any experience with the Santa Cruz Roadster frame?

I'm also looking at a custom 3D racing frame SC7000 material, I also get to choose any color I want.

So, I guess the question is which one... and can a custom frame make that much of a differance.

Yes and no... the younger you are the less important fit is. As you grow older the idea of a custom made frame begins to make more sense.

A friend of mine has a Roadster. The front derailleur mount broke off one day while we were out riding. It took them weeks to send him another frame and it was not straight. He sent it back and got another one weeks later. It also was defective. He now has a good replacement that he seems to be happy with, but it took most of a season to get the situation sorted out.

I'm thinking that the roadster got my attention because of the aero frame and it comes with an easton fork and seat post for right at a cool grand. Also it's a santa cruz... but... the 3D racing will be a bit more (frame only) and made for me...that's right ME...Not you AHAHAHHAHAHAHAH!!!!

Sorry I got off track there, also any color I want. and I have the distinct privilage of buying a nice fork and CK headset even before I can ride it.

Well I'm guessing the more miles you put on a bike the better it has to fit. through trial and error I figured that one out.

The local club thing... I really dont know. other than hoping that one day I'll sack up and go ride with those guys.

That Roadster is a STIFF frame. Maybe it's changed, but those rear stays, daymn, would not get me out on one of those for free. Talk about getting a pounding. Didn't stop my buddy from doing 200+ miles/week on it though...

I know a guy who has one. It's real slick looking, not many people have 'em ... I rode it briefly, it really is stiff, real fast, light, nice frame. He didn't have any probs with it.

i'd avoid the roadster at all cost

3-d makes some NICE STUFF. if you can go that route, i'd do that over the roadster with out hesistating
