at a road race near you
Did another road race this past Saturday. Racing Pro 1/2 is def a different animal. Saturdays race was a hilly course so it suited me well. I decided I was going to make something happen instead of waiting. We came to the first climb which was fairly long and avg 12%. I moved to the front and tapped out a mental cadence holding steady at around 16.5mph. This put alot of people in the red but I didn't attack as most would be expecting it. About 1/2 mile later there was a steep short climb(18%) but not one you would expect an attack on. So I went. A couple of guys jumped on my wheel and I heard "he have a gap, let's work". We started do short balls out pulls rolling in the low 30's. The gap held at 15 seconds forever. Slowly but surely the gap grew. The wheel truck was pulled and was now behind us and we started getting time checks from the moto. The gap grew steady to 2:30 seconds. Came down to 3 of us at the end. To my dismay the finish was a down hill finish and a 50 mph sprint is not a good thing for me. I was happy tho with a check and on the podium.

Nice work TJ!

We've just had crits down here, and very few RR's. Last weekend was Dana Point, so at least it was an NRC.

Actually, yes. I do some XC riding weekly, ride my DH bike rarely(though I make it up to Mammoth every summer), and actually just preordered a Transition Covert.

I'm still a mountain biker at heart.

You guys are fast and you need new RM names. Are any of you still riding mtb?
After you posted this, I re-read his post, taking his username into consideration and  'ed when I read the bold.

It's pretty funny huh? I really only ever come to the road forum here anymore, and I have to admit that I haven't been on dirt in like two years. That'll change shortly though, but road is mo' betta' for me.

Congrats TJ!

I always get dropped on fast road descents. I lack the mass and high cadence required to go fast down the steep stuff.
