I feel you, but there are some positives: 1)Better than human feces. 2)At least you didn't have to pick it out of your laces.

Vernon- Lighten up Francis!!
My dogs does his dumps off the side typically but occasionally when the pace demands it he will drop right there. I will not pick up the miniscule amount of **** he generates when no more than a foot away is a steaming 6" pile of cow **** or horse**** all over the trail. Good reason to never use waterbottles.
I love the eco freaks who feel compelled to bag it and then leave it on the trail fro someone else to pick up. Hilarious!! I will pick 2 up and call it even.
I got you beat when in the winter here in Norcal the runny cow**** is the consitency of creamed spinach and my dog LOVES to roll in it until it covers him head to toe.
Too bad for your ****ty shoes. Bite me. I ain't picking it up.

ALL crap is nasty. Doesn't matter if it came from a dog, cow, horse or human. Don't be part of the problem by leaving even more **** on the trail. No one wants to get sick from your dog's colon goblins.

Dog crap is much more dirty than horse crap. Especially if they are feeding it ALPO.
Yeah, no one ever got sick from horse poop. Oh wait...

And if you can't bunnyhop dog poop, then maybe you shouldn't be off the sidewalk just yet.

Dog *** is a TON worse than horse ****.

In smell, texture, the whole nine. Hay vs Alpo post digestion -> I would have a bare handed horse biscuit fight readily before I would touch dog crap with a stick.

Pick it up, or kick it off the trail. The horse crap shouldn't be there either, but we expect that level of douchniess from their riders,; dont be a horseridingpoopleaver. Heck why dont I crap on the trail since horses and dogs are already doing it....

The difference is in quantity. Dog poop is generally pretty small and dries out pretty quickly. Horse poop can envelope the entire trail and generally stays nice and moist (and attracts flies, which also don't carry anything bad, right?) for a long time, even here in the dry climate. Besides, I pretty much never see dog poop on trails, can't say the same for horse poop.

Anything is better then getting your bike covered in bear poop. It's so hard not to puke on a long climb when your bike smells that bad.

Perhaps one benefit of the current go-pro-look-at-me-fest will be that one day, we can have a "best of" or "greatest sh!ts" reel of people spraying themselves with poo while riding?

I would watch that.

Oh yeah, the thing that has grossed me out the most is humans pooping not far off of the trail, then my dog finding and eating THAT. Eating animal sh!t is one thing, but Zoey eating human waste freakin grosses me out.
It's probably the same gnarly bro leaving tear-offs all over our trails.

Hmmm....I wouldn't have guessed that my writing about dog poo would generate more response than my posts about SRAM XX1 or the new Enduro or whatever.

Interesting.

A few thoughts: it's hard to lighten up about being covered in dog crap, but yeah, it's a hell of a lot better than being covered in human feces (which makes me feel sorry for the people who star in German porn).

Yes, I can bunny hop dog poop on the trail along with the best of them, but seriously, who rides around scoping the trail for dog ****? That's the problem with dog crap...it sort of sneaks up on you.

Do I ride 29ers? Yup. And 26ers and 27.5s and whatever else needs testing for the magazine. Part of the job description, really... Not sure about the relevance of wheel size to dog poop, but I suppose a 29er's longer contact patch meeting a pile of crap could, theoretically speaking, lead to more fecal mayhem. Interesting idea...

Dog poop vs. horse poop? No contest there: dog poop is nastier by far. I've ridden through my fair share of bear crap, living in the Northwest as I do. I still think dog crap is worse, but that's a bit like saying "Bring It On! Part 5" is worse than "Glee". Everyone who comes into contact with either comes out on the losing end.

Finally, I always thought those Shimano lace covers looked silly, but was stoked to not experiment with the prospect of picking **** out of my laces. I'm all about the lace covers now.
