Ridemonkey.com July in Review

July – There we were, expecting heat and summer weather. Little did we know, things would continue in the vein of the wet and sloppy. With that said, we still managed to pull off what was probably the biggest month in the history of Ridemonkey.com. Read on for all the highlights from the month that was.

Gear

As promised, we rolled out a selection of gear articles, previews and reviews for your enjoyment. We took a first look at Scott's Spark 29er, and previewed Easton’s all-new Havoc DH Wheelset in Squamish. We also hopped on board Norco's new beast, the Aurum and were pleasantly surprised to see what Ben Reid and Dan Stanbridge have been testing out. Next up, Straitline launched some new components, including the Amp all mountain pedals and a hydraulic gyro. Finally, we met up with the Specialized cats and previewed their 2012 Gravity Products, including the new Demo, Status, and Dissident helmet, all of which were looking very on point. August promises to be just as busy on the gear front, say stay tuned to Ridemonkey if you like product news!

Crankworx

Crankworx is finished for yet another year, and will remain as one of our busiest events in recent memory. Coverage was constant, and you can still relive all the action with the photo updates! Stevie Smith won on home soil at the Canadian Open, with Andrew Neethling in second and youngster Troy Brosnan in third. Other exciting DH races with great coverage included the Garbanzo DH, where Blenkinsop triumphed, and the Air DH, where we witnessed Needles beat Lopes and ACC return. When the little bikes came out to play, it was Ropelato and Kintner who dominated dual slalom, while in Giant Slalom Jill doubled up on victories and Tomas Slavik won the men’s division. The crowning jewel of Kokanee Crankworx though, was the Red Bull Joyride, where Brandon Semenuk finally took the hometown victory, and deservedly so. We can’t wait for next year’s Crankworx, and hope you enjoyed the coverage!
