Posted an ad on CL earlier today, and received this a few minutes ago...

Hi, i was surfing through craigslist and saw your ads, i
will like to know if this item is still for sale and
available, do email me back so as to be sure you still have
it for sell.

The "Company Name" in brackets is a nice touch. I guess the new guy failed to fill out the template properly. I don't know why I'm posting this. :pirate2:

You think that's good. Check this out. I replied to a craigslist job posting that was clearly some sort of scam/pyramid scheme/piece of crap.

Look at this response I received:

Hello and thanks for your response. Due to the large number of applications

we receive every minute and lot of competitive resume, we have decided to

shortlist and screen some resume. The job is all about receiving payment from

our clients. And 10% will be deducted from the payment received from our

clients. I am pleased to inform you that you are one of the chosen applicants

out of thousands of people that applied for this job and we will like to get

more of your data from you.

Please do answer the following questions below and as soon as you do, we will

get back to you with the updates of our clients within and outside your

stateand also when payment will come up.


VAT Registration No. 682231053.

Do answer the following questions below:

* We need your full names and address as it will be written on Cashiers Checks

recieved from clients.

* How long will it take a Cashiers check to clear your account or can it be

cashed sameday you get it?

* What is the maximum amount you can withdraw from your checking

account?

* What is the name of the bank you bank with?

* How long have you been using your bank account?

* Have you ever make use of Money Gram or Western Union Money Transfer

before?

* What do you understand by company's code of conduct and privacy policy?

* Lastly, provide us with a scanned copy of your Drivers licence or (some sort

I'm with you. These things are dumb, but I don't imagine english is the first language of a lot of the scammers. Let alone a proper literacy education.

What really baffles me is that they're still doing it because it works some of the time. Who the F is that stupid?

My sister-in-law who I've always found to be a fairly smart person (book smart) fell for one of these things. She's a sucker for a get quick scheme, she's sold vacuums door to door before and even tried pyramid schemes. Every time my wife and I see her getting involved in something else we just shake our heads. She's lost way more money than she's made but never learns her lesson.

I know of 2 people who've fallen for the "Cash our Check for more and Send us a check for Less" scheme.
One was arrested at Walmart and then released. Both times the people were convinced they were totally legit. It's a strange thing.
