Slippery wood bridges

I'm new to mountain biking so I have lots of fun challenges. I live in the often wet western Washington. I've come across lots of wood 2x4 bridges on trails. When they're even the slightest bit moist they are dangerously slippery. Anything I can do to make those bridges more tire-friendly? I thought about skate-board tape or something but I wasn't sure how well that'd hold up. Any thoughts?

We use welded wire mesh(1/2" squares) on the bridges around here. Haven't heard of any horse problems with it, and yes, they ride horses over it including the park rangers.

If you didn't build the bridges/stunts, you shouldn't be modifying them.
