Harpoon-Topeak Mountain Bike Adventure Series Ride
to Benefit Free Ride Park Project

White Mountains Event Offers Marked Loops for
All Abilities and a Post-Ride Party with Prizes

North Conway, NH. - After a two-year hiatus, the Harpoon-Topeak Mountain Bike Adventure Series is returning to the Mount Washington Valley on August 21, 2005. The White Mountains Chapter of NEMBA will share some of their favorite trails in the Rob Brook area off the Kancamagus for this charity bike ride to benefit the Free Ride Park Project. The ride is featured as the highlight of NEMBA's White Mountains MTB/Freeride Weekend.

This self-guided ride on marked loops is designed to be a laid-back, non-competitive alternative to racing, with loops for all abilities. Come any time between 9-11AM to register and get your map, and follow the marked course individually or in groups, at your own pace. Harpoon will host a post-ride party with prizes from sponsors, including Clif Bar, Red Jersey Cyclery, Joe Jones, Attitash, VOmax, Harpoon, Topeak, and Artisan Sausage.

Ride Description: This ride explores some of the best trails of the Rob Brook region in the White Mountains. The loops are designed to offer options for everyone, beginner through expert.

The terrain is varied, including lots of singletrack and a couple really awesome fast descents. The optional "hero sections" add some excellent technical singletrack and some extra climbing and tricky descents. However, there will be plenty of shortcuts and bailouts, and everyone can follow the market loops at their own pace.

The epic loop, including both hero sections, will be 23 challenging miles and most good riders will take 4 hours or more to finish the entire loop. So, if you want to do the whole thing, we recommend you start early so you don't miss the party afterwards!

Registration: Register at the start of the ride. The cost is $15 per person or $25 per family, and $10 per person for NEMBA members. Join NEMBA at the door ($25) or participate in the trailbuilding at the White Mountains MTB Weekend and ride for free.

Directions: From Route 16 in Conway, NH (recommended route from Boston), take the Kancamagus Highway (Rte 112) West about 12 miles, and watch for signs for event parking on your right. If you pass Bear Notch Road, you've gone 0.25 mile too far.

From Route 93 in Lincoln, NH, take the Kancamagus Highway (Rte 112) East, 0.25 mile past Bear Notch Road (approx 22 miles from 93). Look for signs for event parking on your left.
