We are finally just one week from opening day and the trails are looking mint! The trail crew has been out since the first of June raking and revamping the trail system and they are chomping at the bit to get out and test the product. You can expect to fine some new jumps, bridges and even some new lines on the hill.

Some of the standouts are the lower portion of Crater trail on which all the berms are bigger and has seen some reshaping throughout the whole section. Catch ‘em, our blast from the past and one of the original trails here, has undergone major reconstruction with a ton of rock armoring and stone work done to get it riding better than it has in years. Tango and Crash, last year’s new kid on the block is riding more machine-built than ever with buffer berms, smother lines, and numerous places to get your tires off the ground; this is going to be a fast one!

Going forward, we are looking at a new expert trail off the top, bringing back to life the old “island trail” 229 on the lower mountain and an extension of our Keep it Going jump trail. Very soon we can expect to see a skills park under the lift with some of the winter elements incorporated into it.

Keep in mind, just because you don’t have a bike fit for the Sunday River Bike Park doesn’t mean that you can join in the fun too; check out our new fleet of Kona Garbanzo Stinky rental bikes built to take all the abuse your can throw at them.

Hope to see you out on the trails and remember to look before you leap.
