Brooklyn still in business. They have been taking some heat from the loyalest. But they have always treated me well, even since Doc left. I got no complaints.

Doc left Brooklyn and started Superco. I'll not speculate as to why he left. My guess is he wants to do things his way and it looks like he's on the right track.

The Race link was Doc's baby, design and build. I'm pretty sure that Brooklyn is still building Links from parts welded by Doc before he left. When they're gone, who knows if the Link will continue on.

But truth is, they're both good companies, with good people that love bikes. I hope the best for both of them.

I heard that doc left Brooklyn because the other guys there wanted to start making fixies for urban queers that smoke cigarettes and where girl pants, if any pants at all. Then there is that whole Japanese thing going on with the Brooklyn logo that I am not even going get into.

This guy is on a Brooklyn fixie-

to add to that, im not looking for whos doing what right, im looking for a basic overview
I understand how this is confusing to people who are not familiar with either company or the history.

"vs" in your thread title is a bit misleading if you're not looking to compare the two companies. But I trust you are genuinely just looking for the reason why people are mentioning both companies as if they are related so I'm hoping to help shed a little light.

Below you'll find links to the history/about pages from both company's sites. This should help answer your question. I included the link to the history page on Bklyn's UK distributor's site for additional reference.

Click the red text in there for photo documentation on the progress of Doc's work dating back to 1992.

Since Brooklyn made a notable departure with the full suspension designs they came out with after Doc's departure, along with the subsequent evolution of Doc's work now at Superco, I'm confident there will be less and less confusion as time goes on.
