They are putting togeather a massive new highway here in my town. It leads to a 3rd international bridge. So we biked all along it and then went on a nice road ride. We hit a trail off the road a bit. Next thing you know my derailer has a twig wound in it and is bent upside down because it was caught in the spokes! It chewed the quick release and bend the part on the frame where the derailer hands from. I didn't have a pair of pliers to bend the bracket mount back into place so I had to tie it up with he spare tube I had. Walk it out about 3 km and luckily a guy was nice enough to let me toss it in his car.

Sort of sounds like a friend of mine. He always has some sort of mechanical everytime we go out for a ride. Broken hangers;pinch flat tubes; and even on one ride he managed to snap a steerer tube.(Only after flinging his bike in the woods). I guess what I am getting at is that you never know what to expect on a ride. Some of my best rides started as some of my worst.
