A message from Kristie (Evergreen's Americorps Outreach Coordinator)...

Our ability to protect and expand trail access depends on building positive relationships with land managers. Help us show DNR that we're committed to Tiger Mountain trails by participating in a work party with Evergreen this weekend.

Work Party Details
Sat. April 9th -- http://evergreenmtb.org/recreation/calendar.php?event_id=9341
Sun. April 10th -- http://evergreenmtb.org/recreation/calendar.php?event_id=9342

The Goal
We're aiming to put the final maintenance touches on the Preston Railroad Trail just in time for opening day.

Never Attended a Work Party Before?
No problem! Evergreen's trail gurus, Mike and Kevin, will be on Tiger Mountain to teach you everything you need to know.

Update from me...

The weather is looking pretty good this weekend... especially on Saturday. Sign up :). Here's the latest scoop on Tiger status and plans:

Preston
  • Preston upgrades won’t be completed this year.
  • As of today, we are about 50% complete overall.
  • Reason we didn’t complete the work: work party cancellations due to snow/weather, equipment issues hauling rock and... it's a big job.
  • Some work will continue in the Spring -- on weekdays, but no posted work parties and no trail closures due to trail work once the trail opens for the season.
  • This weekends’ WPs are the last 2 big posted WPs on Preston *until* next Fall after Preston closes again.

East Tiger Summit Trail
  • Work has not started yet – we’ll start flagging very soon – work parties will begin this summer.
  • We’re hoping to find a way to shuttle up bikes to the top, so after work parties, volunteers can ride Preston and NW Timber back down to their cars.

Now, think sunny thoughts!

Our winter work parties have been a little like this video: http://www.youtube.com/embed/lEuE786z3ZY. Jump to 2:20 for the chant I yell off my balcony every morning before I head to Duthie.
