Oakland, CA – The UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team Presented by Maxxis brings a sprinter-heavy roster to one of the biggest criteriums of the year tomorrow, the Presbyterian Hospital Invitational in Charlotte, N.C.

“In just a short time, this race has achieved a lot of prominence on the calendar,” said Team Director Mike Tamayo. “It traditionally has offered up good prize money, and that has attracted the cream of the criterium crop each year, so the race is always competitive. It’s a great race for any rider to add to their palmares.”

UnitedHealthcare Presented by Maxxis will be contributing its fair share of c ream to that crop. The Team brings last year’s 3rd place finisher, Karl Menzies, as well as sprinters Hilton Clarke and Jake Keough.

If the 50-mile race follows a similar pattern to previous editions, the Team will be looking to get one of its sprinters into a late-race break. Last year, the race was decided by a 10-rider break, and late breaks have frequently decided the six previous editions of the event.

UnitedHealthcare Presented by Maxxis will bring plenty of horsepower to support its sprinters, whether it’s riding tempo or chasing. Brad White, Matt Crane and Adrian Hegyvary have been instrumental to numerous victories, lining up on the front of the pack to bring back breaks, control races and set up lead-outs for the Team’s three sprinters. Eric Barlevav and Jonny Clarke will likely take up the roles of final lead-out men.

The competition will be fierce, with V Australia, Jamis-Sutter Home, Bissell and Mountain Khakis all bringing full squads.

“Everyone comes to the race highly motivated,” Tamayo said. “We expect it to be fact and aggressive throughout.”
