Vino wants to come back!
http://www.velonews.com/article/83999/guess-who-s-coming-to-dinner-vino--wants-to-rejoin-astana

Honestly though, I always liked watching him race, he was always in the mix, shaking things up. He served his time, I guess I don't have an issue with him returning to the peloton. Who wants to be though that ASO doesn't let him back to the tour, and what would that mean for Lance on Astana?

Lance, Vino, maybe Beloki, and I know that The Jan said no, but sh!t man, never say never with the news these days...

I saw this story and wasn't sure what to make of it. I guess Vino has connections with Astana sponsors and is probably still popular in Kazakhstan. In any case, if those assumptions aren't true, then there's no freaking way he'd be looking at Astana considering how badly he disgraced them. In terms of putting a mark on a whole team, I can't think of any worse damage done by a single rider. He's been talking about the Giro, which might suggest that he knows the ASO is going to give him grief if he tries to ride in the Tour. That and maybe he sees himself on an Armstrong-led Astana so the Giro seems more likely of a target. Whatever his plans, doesn't he still have time on his suspension to serve out? I think I remember reading that his official suspension was short because he said he was going to retire and the UCI would reopen the case if he decides to come back.

In any case, I suppose I don't have an issue with him coming back- at least no more than any other convicted doper. I always liked him and (pre-doping) he was one of my favorite riders: always exciting to watch, lots of power and fight.

I think you meant "before he got caught." I always liked Vino's aggressiveness too, but let's be clear - he was probably doping for years before he got nailed, and many of the performances that lots of us found so thrilling were probably unnatural.

Let's face it, in a non doping world people don't have the power to attack like they used to. It's like a whole field of Levis

That is what I meant- pre-public doping scandal. He was fun while he lasted.
