Im over here now
my old trusty software of course doesnt support MPEG4 files and when i try and convert said files to something like WMV's, the quality looks horrible.

need some recommendations for XP and or Vista. i DL'd WMM Live for my Vista computer but when watching the videos in the editor, its extremely choppy.
i dont feel like paying $70 for the updated version of the software ive been using for years (Cyberlink).

any recommendations?

I had this exact same issue. I went out and bought pinnacle studio 14 HD, it was like 30 dollars at best buy. It is great with editing and not to complicated either. My only issue is it sets the quality of your film based on the first clip you add to the time line. The issue with this is that this software does not recognize gopro clips very well so when i add clips that are 960p it thinks that they are 720p so they get all screwed up. and there is no physical button to change them to 960. So there is my input, if anyone can help with my problem also that would be great!
