Thinking of changing the shock out on my SC Bullit for a slightly shorter one. Stock is 8.5 x 2.5 I have a 8.25 x 2.25 just hanging around I thought I might put on the frame. It'l be free instead of $100 to rebuild my stock one.

Anybody know how exactly this might change things. Obviosly shorter travel by a little bit but any real negatives you guys can think of.

Well, it will change your geometry a tiny little bit, as it will move your swingarm/rear wheel a little bit closer to the frame. Valving may need to be played with.
With those measurements, at bottom out the rear wheel will be in the same position as with your other shock, so no problems there...

Try it. If you're happy, roll with it.

guess you found the santa cruz 99 bux sale!
your head angle will change and you will notice it in the berms and descending. It is a great spare but stick with your old one re-built.
cool vibes...
