I am going to try and machine a 20mm thru axle sized down to a 12mm for a buddy. This is an experiment, so I am wondering what to use 6061 or 7075 aluminum. I think I use the T6 treated variety, but don't know which will be better. Give me your thoughts.

7075 T-6 is much stronger than 6061 T-6. If you have it, go for it.
