Between a rock and a hard place.
Looking to upgrade the wheelset on my Giant NRS.

I have it narrowed down to two choices.
Mavic Cross-Roc
or
XT hubs and Mavic 517s.

The weight is within 50 or so grams so no big deal. The Cross's cost almost $100 more. Is there any advantage to the Cross wheelset?

I would think that it would be more difficult in the event I break a spoke or something on a trip?

Thoughts.....

How much do you want to spend?

What type of riding are you doing?

Disc specific? Rim brake?

Race wheelset? Trail wheelset?

What are you looking to upgrade from?

Tubeless? Standard?

How much do you weigh?

More info could help answer your inquiry a bit better I think.

Woops, typo.

The cross-ride wheelset.

Me - about 190
Bike - giant nrs
brakes - rim
purpose - xc/light trail riding
tube/tubeless - UST is stupid

I have it down to those two wheelsets.
Just wondering if there is enough of an advantage if any to the cross-rides to justify the extra $100.

Does the price you have for the XT hub and 517 rims include the cost to have the wheels built? If it does I don't see any reason to shell out $100 for 50g.

If you are stuck on those two wheelsets, get the xt/517 combo. There have been reliabilty issues surrounding the rear hub of the crossrides.

Yeah.
Im going off a pre-built price from Cambria and Bike Co.

The price difference is just under $100.

I kinda have reservations about all the plastic in the Cross-rides. Thanks.
