I can find asymmetrical chainrings in the spec I want all day long, but it seems only Wolftooth makes (and is shipping) exactly what I am looking for: symmetric, 96 BCD, narrow/wide teeth, 30T, round chainrings...

I have no problem with WT, but $80 for a chainring is a touch high...

that still begs the question.... wolf tooth wouldn't be making a symmetric 96 bcd chainring if no cranks used it.... so who is making cranks like that?

Did you go with the midget bike cranks? (you could have just drilled a whole into some cheap RaceFace Cranks)

Or the clown car colorway?

Or the whole circus?

The (pain in the ass) thing about these cranks is that the interface clearances are so tight that they are extremely hard to install. Just getting the bearings or crank arm onto the spindle during bench assembly is an exercise in patience…

The threads in my bb seem to be out of parallel and / or not concentric - not by much, but as a result getting the cranks installed is tricky.

My Shimano cranks on the other hand have enough clearance that they are super easy to install in the same bb.

Not the end of the world, but it”s definitely illustrative of why using the appropriate clearance tolerances is better than using the tightest possible ones…
