I live in Seattle. It doesn't get super cold. Mostly just 30-50 deg and rainy. 40 and drizzling feels pretty cold.
I wear knickers 10 months of the year. I have horrible knees and warm knees are happy knees.

I'm looking for some wool knickers to take the chill of and have found nothing that doesn't have a chamois. (mens)

Should I just pony up the $$$ for true winter knickers? I feel like I could spend half that and get what I need if only it were for sale. I'd also like to layer it so I could shed it mid ride. Conditions are often very different from morning commute to afternoon commute.

Knee warmers help but my junk gets cold.

Why not just get some full pant to slip over your spring knickers. This is what I do and I have some LG with windstopper in the front and nice warm fleece. Then you can even got just bibs under them on warmer days. Since there is only windstopper on the front there is tons of ventilation.
