Our weekly Wednesday Night Ride was a bit better than usual this week. Five of us went on a 21.5 mile trek through the desert, start temp was 102, finish was 98. I made it up to the last mile before I hit bottom on the 3 L of water in the hydration pack.

This was somewhat of a breakthrough ride for me on the single speed tonight. I managed to ride it harder than I have in some time and the effort level on the course was easier than I can remember in quite a while.

This was a bit of an Animal Kingdom ride too as we encountered assorted cows (yawn), two rattlers, a large scorpion and heard the coyotes but didn't see them. One member of our group found it necessary to poke the tail of the rattlesnake but it was not aggressive and seemed to care less. He never even got a rattle out of it. Another member of the group suggested we video this event so it could later be submitted to dumbass.com if he got bit.

Sorry! Only two pics on this outing.

We were treated to another excellent AZ sunset

The non-aggresive rattler. Note this is not a frontal shot.
